3D Glasses Health Hazards - How Clean Are 3D Glasses - Good Housekeeping

Good Housekeeping decided to look into the cleanliness of 3-D glasses that movie theaters ask patrons to return for re-use. While most of germs & bacteria found on these glasses were fairly harmless, one of the glasses had traces of staphylococcus aureus, which can lead to a staph infection, pinkeye & possibly pneumonia.

Cleaning 3D glasses with a pre-moistened alcohol wipe killed over 95% of the bacteria. Even a wash with soap & water in the theater's bathroom will reduce the bacteria by almost 95%. A wipe with a dry tissue, however, only removed 66% of the germs.
